The Healthy Kids Community Challenge implemented it’s fourth theme, Power Off and Play! from January 2018-September 2018. This theme encouraged kids and families to build a balanced day that is not filled with screen time.
‘Screen time’ is time spent using a screen-based device, such as a smart phone, tablet, computer or TV. Not all screen time is unhealthy. Screens can offer an important way to learn and communicate at school and at work. However, a lot of the recreational use of screens has people sitting or lying down. This is called sedentary screen time and many children are getting too much of it. Let’s encourage kids to power off devices and play!
